About Nirmalan Dhas
Nirmalan Dhas, Senior Partner of The Centre for Psychodynamic Equilibrium, Colombo, Sri Lanka is a Counselor, Psychotherapist, and a Human Resource Development and Organizational Development Consultant by profession with more than 30 years of experience in the field.
His work involves Psychosynthesis using varying Psychodynamic and Psychoanalytic methods that bring about therapeutic and transformative effects in people and the world around them.
His approach to Organizational Development through the conceptualizing, engineering and guidance of processes and the eliciting of expressions of in depth insights of the hierarchy of organizations and their visions have produced a few leading personalities with exceptional track records in the country’s corporate sector. His work in the area of Organization Development currently extends from Hierarchies to Holarchies, Networks and Nested Networks.
In the field of Human Resource Development his work includes the modification of physical, mental and emotional configuration, the development and modification of Conceptual Frameworks and the movement out of the Dominant Dualistic Perceptual Paradigm and into the emergent Non Dual one and he has been a constant advocate of the salutogenic effects of this movement.
He has begun to explore the phenomenon of connectivity that has been seen to occupy this movement and to study the circumstances of its emergence as well as factors that facilitate its sustenance and expression as well as its relationship to the de construction of sexuality and anthropocentric, gender biased, authoritarian, intolerant individual human identity.
He has also begun to direct his attention to the structural and infrastructural changes that this movement seems to require.
His work in the field of psychotherapy – or in the therapeutic response to spiritual distress – is based on an understanding of neural networks, energy flows within them and the potential for connectivity. A therapeutic intervention within this context would consist of the use of connectivity to enable each party to the intervention to enter the perceptual framework of the other and see the world from the other person’s point of view thereby offering the possibility of perceptual modification.
His early involvement in the Counseling movement within the Christian Church has matured into a deep interest in the articulation and facilitation of the emergence and consolidation of the Advaitic or non dual perceptual paradigm in Hinduism, Paganism, Buddhism, Christianity, Islam and New Age Spirituality and he is known for his trans theistic articulation of perceptions of the divine.
His approach to his work is unique in that he combines ancient wisdom – most specifically practices arising from Advaita – with contemporary knowledge of psychotherapy with which he has carefully crafted techniques of his own, establishing a unique discipline of work. Known for his somewhat unconventional methodologies in approach to solving problems he has produced exceptional results in developing both human resources and organizations as well as in personal counseling and in the generation of supportive, facilitative, inspirational and therapeutic human relationships.
In addition he has been an interested party to, observer of and participant in the evolutionary development of the dominant developmental paradigm in the face of increasing evidence exposing the illusory nature of its underlying dualist perspective with its consequent perception of objects and its compulsive commitment to their manipulation by force.
In particular he has been keenly interested in the emergence, progressive consolidation and impact of the growing global networks of conflict resolution mechanisms with their awareness of the role of perception in conflict generation that seems solidly grounded in the secular, material spiritualism of the Synthetist Vision with its emphasis on processes and their guidance through love.
Throughout his life he has been aware of the increasing number of people who have begun to see the world in a new way from a different point of view and is deeply impressed by the systematic and sophisticated manner in which they are coming together in order to re organize social processes of production and reproduction in keeping with their perspectives.
He has become aware that the new vision of the world that they share is an emergent one and that it has been accessible to certain persons from the very dawn of human being and that the number of those able to access this perspective has been steadily increasing and continues to do so. It seems as though the perception of this emergent vision and its progressive realization is necessary for life’s universal spread and for its evolution beyond human being.
He has therefore put together a constantly growing and changing system of teaching and training aimed at facilitating those who wish to enter this new and emergent perceptual paradigm, to do so.
At the same time he has also been aware of the systematic manner in which the authoritarian intolerance of the dualist perspective underlying the dominant developmental paradigm seeks to violently hinder, suppress in every possible manner and destroy those who access this emergent vision of the world; defining their goals as illegitimate and subjecting these visionaries to cruel processes of discrimination, marginalization, torture and murder, and causing them great suffering and spiritual distress the somatic manifestations of which are then categorized as mental illnesses and subjected to coercive chemical, electrical and mechanical modifications.
He maintains that the rapid increase of this small minority and its impact upon the corporate sector that forms the heart of the dominant developmental paradigm in the form of processes described as Human Resource Development, seems to indicates that far from being a marginal phenomenon peripheral to the developmental process, it is in fact indicative of the emergence of a strategic function that may lead us through peace to life beyond human being.
It may also be indicative of the continued unfolding of those processes which have been described as evolution and which are seen to have led to the emergence of increasingly complex and sophisticated perceptual mechanisms and the organisms required for their sustenance and for the expression of their perceptions.
The emergence of this minority may thus in fact constitute the very center and rationale of the developmental process and the most current manifestation of evolutionary change.
His life is an ongoing attempt to examine some aspects of the emerging non – dual perceptual paradigm and some of the phenomena that have been seen to attend its emergence.
He hopes that his work will help orient those who may be awakening to this emergent perspective and help them realize that though there are still but a few of them they are not alone, that many of them have already linked themselves together forming spatially vast networks and that they too may join others who share their perspectives in their ongoing attempts to guide the world to peace, to the evolution of life beyond human being and to its universal spread.
Most of his adult life has been and continues to be devoted to the development, through training, of advanced human resources; the provision of training for Conceptual Capacity and Strategic Competence to those interested in guiding the developmental process away from states of war and towards states of peace, in therapeutic ministrations to those in spiritual distress and in the initiation, support and sustenance of processes aimed at generating supportive, facilitative, inspirational and therapeutic human relationships.
He has chosen to articulate and advocate secular, spiritual, materialist, synthetist perspectives free – as far as he has been able to render them – from all forms of coercive indoctrination, dogmatism, ritual and cultic practice and all other forms of spiritual exhibitionism, anthropomorphism, gender specificity and bias and is closely engaged, through The Synthetist Mission, with those who share such perspectives.
The Synthetist Mission through its School of Life continues to provide training in the acquisition of Mastery and The Power To Guide; the cultivation of Wisdom, Insight and Understanding; the accession of Enlightenment and Illumination; and the practice of Respect, Radiance and Compassion and offers several other courses of training in life skills, human relations and spiritual development for children, teenagers, young adults, and mature individuals.
He is currently in the process of establishing The Foundation for Civilizational Transformation and Conscious Evolution that is hoped will serve as a platform for research and development that will facilitate the emergence of a Global Network that may function as a Global Perceptual Mechanism and as a Global Strategic Guidance System that can facilitate the conscious evolution of life through and beyond Human Being and its universal spread.
The Foundation for Civilizational Transformation and Conscious Evolution will engage the question of the need for the de-linking of access to commodities and resources from access to wages and the need for Conscious Planetary Governance and the development of connectivity and other emerging human skills while addressing the current global issue of the obsessive compulsive dynamic that generates our current global civilization and the consequent rapid resource consumption and decreasing access to fossil fuel, pollution and global climate change, global monetary crises and the credibility of the growth model of development.
His work in the field of Civilizational Transformation and Conscious Evolution earned him a Professional Doctorate and the Honorary Title of Gauwrawaacharya in 2011.
